Hello:

For those of us who have attended the December convention in the past, we are well aware of the large number of homeless people in the downtown Atlanta area. Each year we attend the convention, bypassing these individuals. Although we may be better off than they are, we are no better than they are.  Our youth understood that.  Last year some of our youth took action and gave back to the Atlanta community! They prepared bag lunches for 200 homeless people at the nearby homeless shelter. Despite financial barriers, it was a success.

This year, our youth have endeavored to provide this service again on an even larger level. They are currently making preparations to feed dinner to up to 700 homeless people who go to the shelter in hopes of food, warmth, and shelter. With the blessing of Bishop McKnight, on December 17, 2011 at 5:00pm, they will be providing a hot meal to the homeless population at one of the largest shelters in the Atlanta area. Our youth are actively looking for monetary donations to assist in implementing this endeavor. There will also be a donation box at the youth registration table for those who wish to donate financially.  We appreciate the contributions of those who have already donated and encourage your prayers for the success of this endeavor.
